What is the best way to get very good at poker?

imo it's not something educational. Poker is about the experience at the table and luck. I mean, you can never call your play very good but you can call your strategy very good at some point.

Three tips to become a better poker player. Observe the players at the table when you are in the hand and when you are not active in the hand. Just look around at all players so it will appear your eyes are just wandering. Your mind will pick up on subtle actions and register in your brain that this action happened and when it happened..the result was this or that. Observe betting patterns of each player as to calls, raises, and especially re-raises. By patterns this includes the amounts of the bets/actions in relationship to the pot and the size of the bets called or raised. An example of this might be if a player playing in a 1/2 NL game might lead bets at $10. You hit the double gut shot straight draw on the turn with a pair on the board (flop). The river card is a blank but falls in the range of the straight. The bettor increases his bet from $10 to $25 with a pair on the board from the flop. You can never re-raise the bettor here as he (or she) may have mad the full house on you…nullifying what you had as a nut straight. This just happened to me two evenings to go…the river card hit the guys hold pair and the flopped pair doomed my straight. I didn’t raise when the possibility occurred. The third and final tip. If you can’t raise or call a raise preflop then your hand is too weak to play. Scared money is most likely lost money.
